The First Unit Of Fujian Xiamen Pumped Storage Power Station Was Successfully Put Into Operation For Power Generation
On October 4th, Unit 1 of State Grid Xinyuan Fujian Xiamen Pumped Storage Power Station passed a 15 day test run and was successfully put into operation for power generation.
As the largest pumped storage power station with the largest single unit capacity in Fujian Province, the operation of Xiamen pumped storage power station is of great significance for ensuring the safe and stable operation of the Fujian power grid, promoting clean energy consumption, and optimizing energy structure.
The Xiamen Pumped Storage Power Station is located in Tingxi Town, Tong'an District, Xiamen City, Fujian Province, with a total investment of 8.664 billion yuan. It is a key construction project in Fujian Province. The power station is mainly composed of an upper reservoir, a lower reservoir, a water conveyance system, an underground powerhouse, and a switching station. The total installed capacity is 1.4 million kilowatts, and a total of four 350000 kilowatt reversible mixed flow water pump turbine generator units are installed. They are connected to the Fujian power grid through two 500 kV lines. After all units are put into operation, it is expected to save 220000 tons of standard coal and reduce carbon dioxide emissions by 440000 tons annually.
The construction of the main project of Xiamen Pumped Storage Power Station started in November 2019. It only took 47 months from the start of the main project to the first unit being put into operation for power generation, which is 7 months shorter than the construction period of the same level of pumped storage power station, creating a new record for the construction of State Grid Corporation of China's pumped storage power station. The power station monitoring system adopts a fully "Chinese chip" design and application, making it the first pumped storage power station in China to use domestically produced chips for the entire station monitoring system. It fundamentally ensures the long-term safe and stable operation of pumped storage power stations and effectively enhances the security of China's pumped storage industry chain supply chain.
Fujian is one of the provincial-level demonstration areas for the new power system of State Grid Corporation of China. In the first half of this year, Fujian's installed capacity and power generation of clean energy remained stable at over half, with clean energy accounting for 55.3% of the total power generation. As an important regulating power source for the Fujian power grid, Xiamen pumped storage power station will play an important role in ensuring grid safety, promoting new energy consumption, and improving power supply quality, providing a safer, more reliable, flexible, efficient, and green clean power guarantee for the Fujian power grid.
